Northeastern News, Northeastern University, Boston, MA

Perhaps the next time Bessie King writes an All Hail ("Immigration mindset needs change," March 23), she can provide us with facts regarding illegal immigration rather than relying on her emotions and calling the other side "hateful." Her views, like President Bush's, are out of touch with America.

The American Republic, the flickering flame of freedom, justice, liberty and the guaranteed right for the pursuit of happiness by the land owning class, was extinguished the day the National Security Act was wrought into existence on July 26, 1947. The day the American Empire was born.

Ducks can't read. And a lot of college students don't bother to either. When walking across campus with friends, searching for the perfect place for a game of ultimate frisbee, soccer or muggle quidditch, little yellow signs are hardly on our radar. But perhaps they should be.

Egypt and Reminiscing 1

In contemplating what anecdotes to write about for my final diary entry from Egypt, one moment stuck out in my mind. When I took my English class of refugees out to eat at a local café a month ago, our discussion turned to the Iraq War.

I explained to Hussain, one of the Iraqi students, that much debate had circulated in American intellectual circles about the sectarian, religious and political strife that had plagued the country.

Sorry, Seniors; The Curse Is Over 1

The Daily Campus, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

18 hours ago by Kevin Meacham

Every year has brought a national championship drought in the major sports, each team's story more harrowing than the next. I don't know exactly why the Class of 2008 is cursed, but then I don't make up the curses.

But know for sure, graduating seniors, that there was nothing you could have done to stop it. So it's nothing personal.

A few months ago, Mike Gravel was just another politician vying for the endorsement of the Democratic Party in the 2008 presidential election.

You've probably never heard of him, but those who have know him to be a man of interesting politics. Arguably, those politics got a lot more interesting on March 25 when, after suffering defeat in the primaries, the former Alaskan senator changed his tune.
