One of the reasons I love this country is our right to freedom of speech. I consider it a great privilege that this is something we are also allowed to take advantage of with our school newspaper. However, it upsets me greatly when people use this privilege as an excuse to display their ignorance to others.

On the regrettably rare occasions that I find myself with sufficient time and energy to inform myself of what is happening outside of my own little bubble, I typically pick up a newspaper. You just can't blame the 'that girls'

The Sophian, Smith College, MA

You know her. She sits in the second row, right side. She could have been another anonymous Smithie in one of your classes. But she's not. She's not just a peer, she's not just a classmate. You will never ask to borrow her notes, you will never actually listen to what she says without snickering in your head.

O'Riordan challenges Padulo's take on Avatar and Oscars

Wheaton Wire, Wheaton College, MA

After reading Dominic Padulo's article slandering the sci-fi epic Avatar almost three weeks back, I felt slightly angered at the lack of legitimacy for this brutal bashing, however I didn't dwell.
