Dear editor:
Have the comic guys A.V. Waters and Knox Yeoman lost their minds? Moreover, has the Collegian staff gone mad? Someone has fallen asleep at their post. I am referring to the May 7 comic entitled, "Wesley Snipes Crawling Through a Tunnel." It is egregiously racist and definitely in poor taste.

How were your exams?
How many nights did you stay up cramming for exams?
How many nights did you stay up not cramming for exams?
Which nights do you remember better?
Consider that proof-positive that cramming for tests is a waste of your time.
Speaking of which, how many of those exams did you pass?
Will you still graduate?
Are you sure?
Are you on the five-year plan?
Are you on the six-year plan?
By choice?
Isn't that a lot of money?
How do you afford that?
Do you have a job yet?
Do you hate your job yet?
Do you wish you had a job to hate?
Do you have a significant other?
Are you guys together?
Facebook-together or real together?
Are you guys staying together?
Like moving in together?
Or moving out?
Do your parents wish you'd move out?
Ouch.

As a college graduate, the possibilities are endless for you - but it is time to start asking yourself those big life questions. What will you do to make this life worthwhile? We all reach the point where we realize we must focus on something bigger than ourselves.

Well, this is it - graduation. Given the economy, I can look forward to getting no jobs with my UConn degree. But at least my alma mater taught me to drink. Cheers, UConn.
You know that statistic they teach you on orientation where one of the people sitting next to you won't graduate? It's true, just ask my buddy who sat to my right.

At this point in the races, Barack Obama remains in the lead of the Democratic primaries, with 1,845 pledged delegates and 257 super delegates. Hilary Clinton has 1,686 delegates and 267 super delegates. These are the cold, hard numbers that underlie every last little ounce of speculation and hype America's news apparatus churns out.

The Huffington Post recently published an article titled "Clinton Camp Says it Will Use the Nuclear Option." In short, the Clinton campaign confirmed intentions to maneuver its way through the democratic convention in such a way that it could destroy the Democratic Party for at least an entire generation.

4,063 is the number of failures our government has produced during the span of the War on Terror.
As of May 3, 2008, over 4,000 fine American men and women died for a cause that most of them did not believe in. I know that it is just a matter of time before my own family will be affected by the loss of a loved one serving in the Middle East.

Though Islam has been misunderstood for many years, the dislike toward it has been on the increase since the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. Perhaps the most amazing aspect of American society is its lack of concern over the ignorance displayed-television, movies, music, politicians and even teachers promote racism by condoning and exemplifying it.

Two Keene State College students came dangerously close to drowning in the Ashuelot River last week after their kiddie pool raft was trapped in the current. A week after their rescue, the city of Keene has now decided to prosecute these young adults as menaces to society.

I got a call from home the other day, only to be told another kid from my high school passed on. He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 18, while running in a track meet. He was all set to graduate and ready to embark on his journey to college.
Death should have not been his destiny.

A senior prank in Portland, Ore., caused a lot of controversy when a letter was sent home to parents signed by the "The Lincoln High School Faculty and Administration." Lincoln High School parents received a letter a couple weeks before their teenager's senior prom, informing them that the school acknowledged that times have changed for students and noted that since sex education courses had not been working.

I have noticed that The News rarely features articles about Greek Life here at Northeastern. The only articles that seem to focus on fraternities and sororities are published when they get in trouble with the law or the university, or when they sponsor an event.

Five years ago, when Northeastern's janitors first came to the Progressive Student Alliance (PSA), they wanted help in securing contract improvements that included higher wages, more efficient equipment and education about where to air grievances like supervisor abuse.

So this is it: my last column. No, no -- it's OK. Please don't cry. Seriously, shut up -- I can't think when you're blubbering like Augustus Gloop over there. We've really had some great times together this semester, haven't we?

04/29/08 - 04/29/08 - To the Cigar, I'm a freshman who is very familiar with the housing problem on campus. I'm writing to inform the students of some misinformation that The Good 5 Cent Cigar received from HRL. The article on Friday, April 25 explains that students with disabilities, athletes and TD students receive priority housing.

Graduation for Saint Anselm College's class of 2008 will take place on May 17. The college announced last month that award-winning journalist Helen Aguirre Ferre would be the key-note speaker at this year's commencement ceremonies.
Since the announcement, there has been grumbling among members of the class of 2008 about this year's commencement choice with many students disappointed that the speaker is not someone more recognizable.

People often lump all homeschooling together to create one stereotypical mess of uber-religious, unsocialized children. I myself was homeschooled officially for two years of my life. Throughout my experience, I found that my home environment was a much better institution of learning than any traditional school.

It seems we have a problem. Though it's true that we have been blessed with the gift of two second-semester vacations, their timing is less than convenient. The first, which falls in the cold weeks of February, comes too soon after our return from winter vacation.
