For lack of a better topic, the dawn of spring struck this writer as a great time to dust off the drinking game manual and make a list. Thus, I have compiled the most popular drinking games around campus (alright, mostly on my floor), and included a brief description of the rules.

Disclaimer: games to be played with non-alcoholics beverages only.

Card Games

A#$-hole: Without a doubt the most well known of all drinking card games, this one needs no explanation, and is obligatory on any drinking game list.

Four Kings: Another popular game, which no two people ever play alike. All cards are spread out, face down, around a tall glass on a table. One by one, players pick a card and show it to the group, then discard it. Each card has a different drinking assignment, and this is where the rule discrepancies come in, so here’s one version of playing for new-comers: Red twos, threes, and fours: give same number of seconds as on card. Black twos, threes, and fours: take. Fives: hold up your hand. Last person to do so drinks. Sixes: touch your thumb to your nose. Last person to do so drinks. Sevens: touch your thumb to the table. Last person to do so drinks. Eights: bathroom pass. No one playing the game is allowed to go to the bathroom without an eight. Penalties for violating this rule involve copious drinking. Nine: bust a rhyme. The person who drew the card says a little phrase, and the person to their left must immediately say a phrase that rhymes with it (Caucasian students might have some trouble with this one). This continues around the circle until someone messes up. They drink. Tens: category. The person who drew the card picks a category, such as “brands of car,” and, going around the circle, everyone must name something that fits that category. First person to mess up drinks. Jacks: never have I ever. The person who drew the card says something he’s never done, and anyone who has done whatever he said must drink. Queens: waterfall. Everyone stands up, and begins to drink. The person who drew the card must be the first to stop drinking, followed by the person to the left of them, all the way around the circle. Kings: The first three kings drawn require that the glass in the middle be filled one-fourth full for each king. The person who draws the last king must fill it the rest of the way, and proceed to chug the contents, and the game is over. This gets especially messy when half the group is drinking non-alcoholic wine and other half is drinking non-alcoholic Jagermeister. Ace: social. Everybody drinks.
